How to Balance College studies and Part time job?
Based on our database, we realized 40% of members are student who is still studying in college and high school. Most of them are excited to earn some extra money without getting from their parents. I would say 60% of our jobs in job bank are suitable for these group of members. Some of these jobs don’t take long hours and only work on weekend. (e.g. Event Promoter, sales promoter, market research, etc…)
I seen a lot of cases whereby the student is over concentrate on their part time job and lost track on their studies. It is very sad because studies will earn you even more money in the future. To helps you guys on balancing your life in studies and work, we came out some tips for you:
- Converting your available time to productive time
- If you travel to your job on public transportation, bring your schoolwork with you so you can study along the way.
- Time management
- To avoid time conflicts, try to plan your class and work schedules as far ahead of time as possible.

- Start slowly. Don’t commit to working a lot of hours immediately.
- Perhaps, you should start with 4 hours / day, then slowly increase based on your workload. If possible, request for flexi hour from your employer.
- Use your working time efficiently.
- If your job has a lot of spare time, perhaps you can work through your schoolwork during the free time provided no objection from your boss. I guess most of the employer will let you do it.
- Be flexible and willing to make sacrifices.
- You need to trade off your time on something you like to do due to your school and work commitments. Always think about the return from the sacrification.
- Schedule relaxation time.
- Everyone needs some relax time to enjoy your happiness especially with your family.
- Don’t always concentrate on working, chill around with your buddies.
