How To Tell If a Part Time Job Is a Scam

The top warning signs?

You should NEVER have to pay your employer to work for them! Here is a true story

first, we must pay RM150 for the service charge, consultation fee and also we have to signed for an agreement. The next day, They called and informed us that we have to wait another 7 days to go to collect the assignment. A week later, they called us..guess what? they said that the company had management problems and they couldn’t hire us to work with them.

That was taken from real examples of Malaysians getting conned available on consumer.com.my.

Job scams - too many as newspapers don’t care to check if the company hiring is genuine or not. Resulting in companies looking for quick money to support themselves earning from less fortunate souls who are really in search of a job!

What I find appalling is that these companies are still blatantly advertising for staff. One only has to be conned by them, and look into the newspapers classified ads … hey presto! it’s a different name but the telephone no. is the same.

There was a company in Wisma Cosway - yes, I got conned by them, and guess what, in the heat of one argument, the guy told me that the company has 12,000 people registered. RM159 x 12,000 = ? How much does that work out? They’ve only been in business for about two years. So it sounds like if you want to earn your money in the honest way, it’s harder, right? It’s faster to con people, and that’s what too many such Malaysian companies are doing - nak cepat kaya!

Sometimes one can’t blame them also for charging. If one looks at quite a lot of the work offered online, there’s bound to be a fee. Let’s say you want to take part in international survey jobs, you need to sign up as a member, you need to pay to become a member. However, it’s very different if they deliver. Unlike the Malaysian ones, they ask for payment but never deliver.

We go wild when it comes to something like rape or some other sexual offensive stuff. But we don’t go wild about dishonesty. That’s why when it comes to morals, it appears we’re pretty good at the sex stuff and very little else of other. We don’t think it’s a moral obligation to be honest. Just be clean where sexuality is concerned and that’s enough. Hmmmm …….
