Finally, we made the first move into the "The Malaysian Dotcom Youth Search" contest. Today, I was notified that our community is featured in the contest’s website.

The number of featured websites is growing in a tremendous rate. Luckily, we are not too late as we position at the 36th place. Anyway, position is not the key to win this contest but the potential of a website in generating income out from it.

I was surprise, 70% of the featured websites are personal blogs. I am curious on how much money can they made when most of their content is about their personal daily story? If you want to make money by blogging, focus on certain topic rather your mother story. You need to capture a reader who is interested on your talking topic. Then, start to make money out from them.

Anyway, these are the few featured websites that worth checking out:

Thanks to YouthMalaysia.com, Nuffnang, MIRC Incubator, there are organizing a campaign to search the hidden technopreneurs by hunting down their websites, portals and blogs with ability to generate income and influence communities with an innovative factor.

We are pretty exciting about this campaigns because our community is fulfilling their requirements as below:

• INCOME (40%)
  • Ability to generate income - Our community is generating steady income through sponsorship and Google Adsense since May 2007. Should be no problem to meet this requirement.
• INFLUENCE (40%)
  • Content 20% - All our posted par time jobs are user-generate contents. Moreover, we also consistently sharing useful tips and ways to generate incomes through this blog. I guess, we can score at least 15% in this section.
  • Traffic 10% - I am not sure how they judging this requirement. If judge by SEO, we have a high chance to score high marks because we had captured the "part time job" and "part time" keyword in all the 3 main search engines. Moreover, we had some funny keyword ("Sex Jobs") link to us as well.
  • Vote 10% - I hope our community will vote for us if we really help them much in getting part time jobs. We definetaly need helps from our royal community.
• INNOVATIVE (20%)
  • User-friendliness 10% - We had created an innovative way of posting a job - "No Account Registration Needed but Only Email Activation". In addition, we are converting the well-known blog engine - Wordpress as our core engine to run our community website. All the major blogs are running on this engine and people are used to it in communicating with each other. I guess, we can score some great marks here.
  • Graphics 5% - I hope our graphic doesn’t hurt your eyes.
    
  • Personality 5% - We don’t keep our user’s personalization setting, so 0% for this requirement.

Actually, we are using the totally new platform for our site. With this new platform, communication between part timer and employer is much better comapre to old patform. Now, you just simply leave your question and your contact in the comment box. Then, the employer will be get notified through email. Then, both of you start the communication offline or online. It is up to you.

In addition, employer could simply post a job without going through account registration but just a simple email validation will do. Of course, as a community lead, I am responsible to moderate the posted jobs. Make sure this community is free of scam.

I plan to have this review every month to share the growing process of this part time job community. I guess some of you might interested on knowing how this community grow in terms of traffic.

Up-to-date, 43.65% of total visitor is coming through search engines . I still remember 4 months back, search engine only source around 20% of my total incoming traffic.Up to this point, I am quite satisfy with the new record.

I am going to review in terms of search keyword against all these 3 search engines. Let’s start with the most basis keyword that part timer used to find part time job - "part time job"
