Our Asx is on Fired!

lawsuit

Today, we received an email from FBME Bank, Cyprus to request for removal  defamatory statements in our Scam Job Review - BEWARE OF SCAM FROM TAIWAN - PART 1.

This email really surprise us as the bank really takes those comments seriously. We have no choice and remove the particular comment about their bank and the scammer - Scott Fitzgerald Pte. Ltd.

Basically, the comment is mentioned that one of the victim transferred money to one of the account hold by the scammer in FBME bank. He just posted the bank account, that is it. 2 months later, the bank some-how managed to find our post and send us this letter.

This is our first time to handle such case. I am wondering, do we get suit when a commentor posted some false information on our blog? It is impossible for us to filter some many comment and the validate one by one Is there any law to protect blogger?

I know somehow we’re responsible for comments left by others. If you can recall, recently Raja Petra of Malaysia Today was summoned to the police station due to remarks by his readers, and not due to his postings. You probably don’t need to remove but sensor it.

Perhaps few others who are more well verse with cyber law can comment on this.

I received this comment by email.
From Michael Taylor:

i am not entirely sure…
however, it is possible to prevent these comments by:
hiring some individuals (officers) to keep track on comments within sections
develop a software that whenever someone posts a comment within any sections, that particular comment gets sent to the officer keep track in that section, then once checked, the comment gets sent back to ‘AsiaPartTime’

you can add a report feature.
if reader find it offensive enough, simply click report to log into your moderator list, and webmaster able to notice it.
if recruiting one to check every single comment, it would be kinda hassle.
but then again, it could be misused/spammed
